Implant Dentures
All-on-4 Versus Removable Implant Dentures

All-on-4 is a full-arch implant concept that typically uses four or more implants to support a fixed set of teeth that only a professional removes; a removable implant denture (like a snap-on) attaches to implants but you take it out yourself for cleaning. Both are stable, but they differ in cleanability, cost and how they are maintained.
How All-on-4 works
All-on-4 uses four — sometimes more — implants to support a complete arch of teeth. Angled placement of the rear implants often makes use of available bone and can reduce the need for grafting in suitable cases. The teeth may be fixed or, in some plans, designed as a removable implant-supported denture.
Nova’s role is the denture: planning tooth position, appearance and bite, and fabricating the provisional and definitive appliances. Implant surgery is performed by a dentist or oral surgeon as part of a coordinated plan.
How a removable implant denture differs
A removable implant denture (such as a snap-on denture) also attaches to implants, but it is designed to be taken out by you for daily cleaning. It usually uses fewer attachments and is simpler to maintain at home, and the retention inserts are replaced periodically.
The trade-off is that a removable appliance can have slightly more movement than a fully fixed bridge, and it is not the same “non-removable teeth” experience some patients want.
Choosing between them
The decision often comes down to how you want to clean your teeth, your budget, and clinical factors like bone and bite. A fixed solution feels most like natural teeth but requires specific cleaning tools and professional maintenance. A removable implant denture is easier to clean at home and typically costs less.
Candidacy for either is determined by the surgical provider. We explain both options honestly at your consultation, including the maintenance each requires over the years, so you can choose with realistic expectations.
Is All-on-4 permanent?
The implants are intended as a long-term foundation, but no dental treatment can be called permanent. The appliance and its components need maintenance and eventual replacement over the years.
Common Patient Questions

Will I be without teeth during treatment?
In many plans a provisional appliance is provided so you are not without teeth during healing. The exact sequence depends on your surgical plan.
What is Nova’s role in All-on-4 treatment?
