Snap-On Dentures in Kingston, Ontario

Snap-on dentures — a popular style of implant-retained denture — click securely onto dental implants and release when you remove them for cleaning. At Nova Denture Clinic in Kingston, we design and fabricate the snap-on denture while a dentist or oral surgeon places the implants.

What is it?

A snap-on denture uses stud-style attachments on dental implants. The denture presses onto the attachments with an audible "snap" and stays put during eating and speaking, yet removes easily for daily cleaning.

As with all implant treatment at Nova, this is collaborative care: implant surgery is performed by a dentist or oral surgeon, and Nova provides the denture design, fabrication and long-term maintenance of the attachments.

Who may benefit?

Snap-on dentures may be worth discussing if you:

  • Want a denture that stays put without adhesive
  • Prefer a removable appliance you can take out for cleaning
  • Have been told by a dentist or oral surgeon that you are a candidate for implants
  • Want a more secure alternative to a conventional lower denture

This page cannot diagnose your situation — a consultation is the right place to find out what suits you.

Potential benefits

  • Secure "snap" retention during eating and speaking
  • Simple to remove and clean at home
  • No denture adhesive required
  • Attachment inserts can be replaced as they wear, refreshing the retention

Realistic limitations

  • Requires implant surgery by a dentist or oral surgeon and a healing period
  • Nylon attachment inserts wear and need periodic replacement
  • Suitability depends on bone and health factors assessed by the surgical provider
  • Not a fixed solution — the denture is designed to be removed daily

  4. 04

    Snap-on denture fabrication

Nova designs and fabricates the denture, fits the attachments and reviews insertion, removal and care with you.

Adaptation, maintenance and follow-up

Remove the denture daily to clean both the appliance and the attachment areas. The small retention inserts inside the denture wear gradually — when the "snap" feels weaker, a quick maintenance visit restores it. Keep regular checkups so we can monitor the attachments and your oral tissues.

Cost and coverage

Costs include the surgical phase with your dentist or oral surgeon and the denture phase with Nova, and depend on the number of implants and attachment system. We explain the denture portion and expected maintenance costs before treatment begins.

Common questions

How is a snap-on denture different from a fixed implant bridge?

A snap-on denture is removable — you take it out to clean it. A fixed bridge stays in the mouth and is removed only by a professional. Each suits different needs, budgets and clinical situations.

How often do the snap attachments need replacing?

The retention inserts typically need replacement periodically as they wear — often every year or two, depending on use. It is a quick maintenance appointment.

Can my existing denture be converted to snap-on?

Sometimes an existing denture in good condition can be adapted, but often a new denture is recommended for the best fit and attachment positioning. We assess this at your consultation.
