Annual Denture Checkups in Kingston, Ontario

Dentures change gradually — and so does the mouth beneath them. An annual checkup at Nova Denture Clinic in Kingston reviews the fit, bite and condition of your denture and the health of your oral tissues, catching small issues before they become big ones.

What is it?

A denture checkup is a scheduled review of your appliance and your mouth. We assess fit, stability, bite, tooth wear and the condition of the base, and we examine the gums and oral tissues that support the denture.

Many denture problems develop slowly enough that patients adapt without noticing. A yearly visit keeps the fit comfortable and flags when a reline, repair or replacement would serve you better.

Who may benefit?

An annual checkup is worthwhile if you:

  • Wear a complete or partial denture — however well it seems to fit
  • Have not had your denture or oral tissues reviewed in over a year
  • Have noticed gradual changes in fit, comfort or chewing
  • Wear an implant-retained denture with attachments that need monitoring

This page cannot diagnose your situation — a consultation is the right place to find out what suits you.

Potential benefits

  • Early detection of fit changes, wear and damage
  • Review of oral tissue health by a licensed denturist
  • Timely relines and adjustments keep the denture comfortable
  • Peace of mind that your appliance is still serving you well

Realistic limitations

  • A checkup is a review, not a treatment — any recommended work is quoted separately
  • Findings that fall outside denturist scope are referred to the appropriate provider

The treatment process

  1. 01

    History and concerns

We ask how the denture has been performing and listen to any concerns.

  2. 02

    Appliance examination

Fit, stability, bite, wear and base condition are assessed.

  3. 03

    Tissue examination

The gums and oral tissues are checked, with referral if anything needs another provider's attention.

  4. 04

    Recommendations

You receive clear advice — adjustment, reline, repair, replacement or simply "see you next year."

Adaptation, maintenance and follow-up

Bring your denture — and any spare — to every checkup. Between visits, follow the daily cleaning routine in our denture care guide and contact us sooner if something changes: looseness, soreness, clicking or a crack.

Cost and coverage

Checkup fees are confirmed when you book. If your checkup leads to recommended treatment, we explain the estimate and any confirmed coverage — including CDCP where applicable — before work begins.

Common questions

My denture feels fine — do I still need a checkup?

Yes. Fit and tissue changes happen gradually, and patients often adapt without noticing. An annual review catches problems while they are still small and inexpensive to address.

How long does a denture last overall?

Many dentures serve well for five to seven years or more with relines and maintenance, but it varies by person. The checkup is where we give you an honest picture of how yours is doing.

Do you check my mouth as well as the denture?

Yes. We examine the oral tissues that support the denture. Anything outside a denturist's scope is referred to the appropriate provider.
